Paradise (Now in Base Game flavor) (UPDATED)

Minor Update: For whatever reason, NPCs spawn from parks at random before running around and disappearing. They do this FOREVER. So don't designate any lots as parks. I have no idea why this happens, but it does. Make them libraries or gyms or something instead.

Who says being stranded on an island can't be paradise?

What more is there to say?

Paradise is a small island situated in the middle of beautiful nowhere. It is surrounded by shallow blue beaches which, depending on your point of view, are marred or made even prettier by patches of sea greenery.

This island has all Common seed spawners and some uncommon, but no rare. It has all base game bug spawners, but not all base game butterfly spawners. It has a few general gem spawners and you can get gold/iron/silver. The common and uncommon ocean fish can be found, as well as rare and deathfish. There are no robot fish or EP fish, but there's one pool of common fresh fish.

There are 4 community lots and 3 Residential lots. One small family could live here. 3 families could live here for a bit of life. Your sims could colonize it and rule it as king or just take advantage of an accidental boat accident and have a permanent vacation. Maybe some kids got stranded here. Maybe Amelia Simhart crashed her plane here.

The lots are here for just that purpose: They cover a significant chunk of the island, so you can alter a lot of how it looks on your own, instead of being stuck with a mostly stagnant world. Using community lots you could load it with trees should you wish, or do whatever you want. Those "empty" spots are empty for you!

Consider this in testing, by you. :p I haven't spent extensive time with it but the only issue I noticed is that the waves crashing onto the beach can look a bit funny if you're zoomed too far out (they look "blocky", but I can't do anything about that). You still get mail and newspapers, somehow, by way of game-required-behavior magic. But apart from that, what goes on here is up to you. :D

For the sake of justifying how your sims here can still travel, I put Jet Trails as one of the effects, so jets fly overhead in the distance rather often. Just pretend that to go on a vacation, your sims wave at a jet, get them to send a boat, and ask the boat for a ride :p

There's also lots of seagulls hanging around.

Here's an idea for a fun way to play:
I've got a little wooden hut on it in my game, filled with luggage and chests from the store sets, and the explorers loot stuff, papyrus, a telescope.

I'm treating money as a form of magical power to summon objects with, and I am only developing other lots by building on them with money my sims have earned (awesomemod allows buy and build buttons to function on community lots). That way there's something to spend money on and something to work for.

I am going to build a tiny office where my sim will get a job as a journalist, presumably working over the internet, and eventually he'll write and sell amazing books over the internet and use his magic currency to build a palace. :D

Notes: When you dig, you will hit water. This is not a glitch. That's the "water table". Any ground lower than the ocean will be full of water. The grassy area of the island is a bit higher than the beach, so you can dig down a little, but not very far. Even digging a tiny bit on the beach will give you a pond. Despite this, you can still make basements, I'm fairly certain. Land dug below water level does not count as a pond. You can fish in it, BUT YOU CAN ALSO WALK THROUGH IT. Meaning you could get some creative Machinima shots going on with sims standing in the water and such.

When you first start using the world you might notice sims randomly appearing near the tower in the center, running away, and disappearing. I am not sure but I think this is just the game generating NPCs for the town. <_<;;
Enjoy. :D

Requires World Adventures.

If you want to play without world adventures...

Then please download Paradise Lite, which has no WA objects or trees. :D

(The text in the World screen picture, by the way, says "Visit...Paradise". )

  1. Thank you so much! I love it. It actually is my paradise. I was wondering if you are still creating any more things for The Sims 1 Console. I am a big fan of that.

  5. It's so cool, but a base game version would help me out.

  6. done. You're lucky it's a small enough world that "converting" it to base game was easy enough to bother with. :p

  7. You might be interested to know that Custom Sims 3 has decided to open a board for custom worlds. It's not like hosting it at MTS, but it would let you give it more exposure.

  8. Hi Claeric. I love all your stuff. I don't want to sound picky but could you put this in a saved game folder and .world package like you did with the Wraithsands download? Sims3paks don't work since my launcher doesn't work.

  11. I can only put lots or sims in by going to edit town and then when I try to put a sim in in normal view all the lots and sims are gone and its just a bare island with only the outlook post on it. Please can you help as I love it. thanks

  12. Sims cannot be placed on empty lots, ever, in any world, in any version of the game. The game willnot let you put sims on a lot that cannot keep them alive.

  13. do you know if there's somewhere we can find like hut as houses for the sims? I think it'll match the island. Thank you. Btw, love the island.

  14. ^ If you download the Coconut Island lot over at MATY, you can save one of the hut houses and carry them over to this island.

  16. for some reason, it won't allow me to move anyone onto the island. any ideas why?

  17. Again, no world in any version of the game lets you place sims onto empty lots. Said sims can't sustain themselves, so you can't do it. (Try it in sunset valley- can't do it there, either) If you're trying to place sims on lots with nothing on them, you have to "move in household", as in, make them the active household, or put something on the lot beforehand.

It's a preventative thing. If you were to put sims in random empty lots, they'd have nothing to do and would die. It's not an issue with the world.

  18. I downloaded and it said I need a software update. I only have the base game updated to 1.79.002001. Do I need the latest update to play? It says it installed fine.

  19. I've never been a huge fan of custom lots and neighborhoods, but this one really is a lot of fun to play, especially as a Robinson Crusoe type of Sim. I just wish it were possible to completely isolate the island and remove some core gameplay routines, like the newspaper delivery.

Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing this.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The newspaper can be cancelled. The only necessary NPC is the mail carrier, and even then, if you get the No Bills Ever reward, they'll never come unless you send off in the mail for something. You can indeed be completely isolated.

As for the guy asking about patching, I'm pretty sure the current patch is way past that, and you should patch regardless. But yes, if it says you need a patch, that means you need to patch.

Ah, I didn't know this. Thanks!

  23. I just wanted to say thank you for this world and post a few pictures of what I did with the world.

I changed all but one of the lots from community to own-able. I used the those Custom round rabbit hole rugs for this world.

  25. Spent the rainy weekend living on Paradise Lite. Great idea and beautifully created.

A few things I encountered. At first I turned all community lots in residential, however only one of the three houses (beside my own) could hold sims longer than a day. I even went as far as to make sure they had jobs and an ample supply of money but they still vanished. I gave up and suddenly a new couple moved into one of the houses by themselves and are still there.

Two robbers came to my house. I called the police but they never came (I do not have a police station on the island) One robber Gary Peck stayed and stayed and stayed. I used ani's Murder bear Dexter to kill him but Death gave him a holiday. I tried using Dolphin's Magic Moodlet to "set Sim on fire" and Death still let him go. In the end I just reset the sim and he was off the island.

There's a whole together different feeling while playing the game in paradise.

    Thanks for your awesome imagination!!

  27. Hi, i must say this, it's wonderful!
But i have a problem: I have WA, but it doesn't let me install the Wa Version.Any tips?

  28. Now I bought lot stuff....my Store objects are vanished O_O

  29. Both the files no longer work. When I try to install either versions, the launcher comes up with the message "Error: Process cannot be started."

I also couldn't load the world file that you posted over at MATY in the Create-A-World editor .

  32. For some reason, the world doesn't work correctly. My sims are frozen in place, even if I do the resetsim command. They can't interact or move anywhere.

  33. I have been playing this world for several days and it has been a lot of fun. I haven't had any problems with it at all.

  37. Hi! I just wanted to say thanks for creating this island, it's very beautiful. I have to say though, I followed all of your instructions to control the spawning of random sims, but I'm not sure it works along with the recent expansion packs, especially the ones after Late Night because of the celebrity system and the insistent paparazzi. :/ Any thoughts on this?

Here's what I did with the island: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WU67WOdWLa4&feature=c4-overview&list=UUDx-LxcxCL2Fyde0INNMSjw
