Beta Testers and Input wanted: Sunset Valley Alteration

I like sunset valley but I dont like the number of lots and size of lots and dont like that the residential area isn't very cramped. So I redid it a bit.

Things changed:
-The residential area is flat now, instead of being two levels. There are still hills and homes on said hills, but the main area is a flat suburban area with lots of lots.
-There are a lot more smaller sized lots (and, oddly, a lot more larger size lots, too). Sizes range from 20x20, 20x30, 30x20, 30x30, 30x40, 40x30, and larger
-I added more lots on the beach and some lots are larger or smaller than they were
-Lots added to the area with the airport and rocket. I will be putting the science lab and military base here. You cannot access it now, because I haven't changed the routing paint yet.
-Some lots are specially placed to allow you to alter the "neighborhood". For example...

This residential lot goes over the edge of a cliff, to allow for a deck that appears to be off the lot and part of the world. There are also small ponds and campgrounds.

I did not try and recreate the "proper" lot size for most lots. I did what I wanted.

What I need right now:

-People to check out the lot placement and give input
-People to check if there are any seams on any of the lots
-Input on the trees. So far all I have are pine trees. Should I go for red/yellow/orange trees, for an autumn feel, or go for the tropical-mountain-totally-makes-no-sense feel of the original Sunset Valley? Keep in mind Autumn means colder area meaning the beach won't be decked out with palms.

Anybody? :D

  6. hello again :)

everything looks good, couldn't spot any seams, lot placements and sizes are all great.

i think red/orange/yellow trees would be a nice change from all green :)

  7. Will try out and give input tonight. Wish it had more hillside lots, I love building them.

  8. There aren't that many places in Sunset Valley suited for hillside lots, though there are a few that go over edges specifically for the sake of decks or stairs down to a lower level (like the lot on the cape)

  9. I'll help test this world as well Claeric. I like smaller lots compared to larger ones. If i find any problems I'll be sure to post feedback

  10. I like! I've always been frustrated by the excessive space in this hood... It's supposed to be a city/town but there are that few lots spaced so far apart? Blah. So thanks for doing this for those of us who don't have the patience to do it ourselves using CAW.
My suggestion regarding the trees would be to go with a more realistic feel and use trees that would grow in the same environment as the pines.FUCK YOU PALM TREES.

  11. Are any of you noticing tearing on any sidewalks? I see a lot of it in Edit In Game, but EIG is known for having graphical issues from CAW that aren't actually there.

  13. I love it.
Since the beguinning, I've been complaining abaout the impossibility for creating lots everywhre(the way it was in TS2).
    Looks much better this way.

  14. Claeric, I tested it this morning and the only problems I have encountered is every lot I placed on the hill where the Wolfe family live in the original sinks, but can be rectified by building a lot there. The other is along the beach lots leading to the Wolfe lot, that have the 40x30 lots and a community beach lot, the sidewalk leading to the community lot shades over with the grass terrain. Other than that, I have enjoyed playing the world. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I did try to have my sim go around the town so I can follow and take a look at the lots. Haven't seen any tearing.

  15. The Wolff lot will have something built specifically on it, it sinks because the lot's lowest point will try to match your lot's lowest point.

  16. i think that particular lot was bette as a 40x40.
Ep2 should let us change that though.

  17. Hi there...

I stopped playing the Sims 3 a long time ago when no one had yet figured out how to edit neighborhoods. Now I'm having trouble finding out how to do it, because I've been out of the loop for a while. Do you know where I can read up on it?

  18. I don't frequent the official site, so I can't give you the link to the discussions there, but you can read the Create-A-World discussions at Custom Sims 3 here: http://www.customsims3.com/smf/index.php?board=41.0

And yes, Claeric, I was noticing sidewalk tearing, in case you didn't notice my posts in your later thread.

  19. Claeric, is it possible to transform Chmap les Sims in a playable hood? Thanks

  20. Good question. I'd love to have those hoods as playable hoods, not just vacation ones as well...
